New technologies, new media, new aesthetics and perception effect on one another. Intelligent algorithms learn from us, just as we learn from them. Algorithms need our data to learn. We need algorithms to live digitally. Humans constantly generate data. Every move, every action, in virtual and physical space generates data. Data is material and matter at once. How much data do we disclose and to whom? Data seems to be abstract. Maybe that is why everyone thinks they have the right to access it – maybe that is the reason why everyone distributes it like confetti… Data is transformation of our selves. What happens to us, as our bodies, moves and emotions are captured and taken from us to feed algorithms? What happens to our human perception, as parts of us are taken and new technologies, new media and new aesthetics evolve? If perception is our embodied connection to the world and to ourselves, what happens to ourselves? Everybody’s data is not only about privacy. It is about everybody’s bodies as aesthetic, political, social, cultural, technological and economic matter.
